Community Creating: March 2023
We love to be out and about providing creative opportunities in our community! This month was a great one for Art Equals as we got to travel around the area and work with so many different groups.
We started off the month of March 2023 with our regular Creative Gathering at Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired where group members learned to spin wool with a hand spindle.
Then, it was on to the Contemporary Arts Center for the monthly One Night One Craft event. We taught a large group how to create hand-felted pots that could be used as planters or soft containers to store their treasures. It was great to see everyone’s pieces all gathered together on display at the CAC.
Art Equals also visited the studio of the Cincinnati Book Arts Society to show its members how flat pieces of handmade felt could be used for book covers. What a wild and very woolly week!
We were invited to Latonia Elementary School for an Adult Skill Building night where families learned about the different ways that the brain can create! Together, we worked on a collaborative project to create stories from scribbles.
We ended the month with a fabulous closing event for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s Encounter NKY Program. Young NKY professionals celebrated their community by incorporating found objects from their Arts & Vibrancy session into a collective wall weaving.
We are so grateful to our wonderful community partners for welcoming us into their spaces. It is a joy to share in the act of creating with you!

Next month (April 2023), we look forward to celebrating the Earth with our community partners. Please join us for a Straw Weaving Workshop at the Kenton County Library and our first Indigo Dye Party of the season on the West Side of Cincinnati!
